Seeking Holiness at Home, at Work, at Play
During Advent, many parents struggle to provide their children with a true vision of Christmas, a vision that doesn’t focus on the elves, and the stockings, and the presents. Instead, they yearn to show their children that the excitement and joy of Christmas originate in the truth of Jesus and His Love for us. That vision of Christmas is vibrantly presented in “The Shepherd Boy’s Tale,” a beautiful audio recording of Bob the shepherd, reminiscing about his childhood outside Bethlehem. An original offering from the podcast, 10 Minutes with Jesus, the role of Bob is played with heartrending simplicity – and a humble South London accent – by Fr. Joseph Evans, a priest of the Prelature of Opus Dei. Like St. John Paul II before him, Fr. Joe has a wondrous gift for theater. Taking to heart St. Josemaría’s advice to enter the gospels by taking the part of one more character in the scene, Fr. Joe wrote “The Shepherd Boy’s Tale,” following Little Bob as he enters the Nativity scene under the sharp eyes of Big John and the other shepherds.
